Ornimals is a personal illustration series inspired by the scans from an ancient book of illustrated birds that I found at a thrift store. Each ornithological term included in the illustration has something to do with... bird vocabulary. Dealing mostly with maturity and development. I like birds, I like learning about them and comparing the ways in which our own human development could resonate with another species. 
Altricial (young that are born naked and with eyes closed, unable to leave the nest)
Fledge (the act of leaving the nest or nest cavity after reaching a certain stage of maturity)
Pelagic (living on the open ocean rather than coastal or inland bodies of water)
Brancher (a young bird of prey old enough to leave the nest but too young to fly)
Crepuscular (birds active at twilight, dawn, and dusk)
