CORE2291 Design Lab 1 - Illustrator Techniques

CORE2291 Design Lab I -
Illustrator Techniques
This project calls for a recreation of the iconic Coca Cola logo using Adobe Illustrator, a computer software primarily used to create vector images ideal for logos and other business elements.

Below are several screenshots documenting the process I went through to recreate the logo. First, I laid out the template, which is a slightly transparent image of the base logo image. Then, I proceeded to carefully trace the script on the logo using the pen tool. The script is now a vector graphic and I am now able to resize it as much as I'd like without losing any quality. The final step was to create the simple circle background and add a gradient using Coca Cola red.
Pictured below is the final product as well as the script by itself in an alternate color.
Themed Pattern and Visual Exploration
The next portion of this project was to develop and design a themed pattern based on the Coca Cola branding. For this, it would require some research and gathering of inspiration, as shown below.
These images were all found through Google and they provide a solid example of the idea I had in mind for my Coca Cola pattern theme. The next step is sketching out motifs for said pattern.
I wanted to aim for a sharp 90s street style or something to that effect. I believe I nailed it on the head with this one. The next step is recreating these motifs in Illustrator, converting them into vector graphics and then finally creating my patterns from them.
Here you can see a glimpse into the process of creating the motifs, editing the first pattern and then creating the second pattern.
