WANDER
For this project, we took a trip to Malacca as a course, to visit their various tourist sites as well as to take photos for the magazine. Some of the places we went to were: Jonker street, Peranakan Museum and the Dutch Square. This project mainly focuses on layout design of a 32-paged travel magazine.
The design of the masthead “WANDER” came about when I tried joining the letters together. The photo was chosen as it has many colours and graphics, the door frame also made a very nice spot for the cover stories.
Second page is a travel quote, I fiddled around with typography, making the less important words smaller and fitting them into the gaps of the bigger words. Also combined the “S” of “speechless” and “storyteller” to create a visual impact.
Using the photos as a background for the opening page of the different stories, putting the text on the picture itself. There is also a photo gallery at the end of the magazine which showcases the different crafts and food of Malacca that we saw as well as some of their cultural buildings.
