Casey Smith Photography: Rebrand

Let's Talk About Casey.
She was an old student of mine who does beautiful photography. Casey focuses on couples, weddings, and elopements and she has a unique spin with her work. While a lot of photographers these days lean heavily into "light and airy" or "dark and moody," Casey stands out by being perfectly in the middle (the photo right below this to the far left is hers, for reference).

She reached out to me for some branding, so of course I said yes! Casey hopes to move out west one day to pursue her photographer career, so we knew she needed something with touches of the west, while remembering modernity and timelessness. You can see the moodboard I made for her below.

Sketches and Draft No. One.
I started out with quite a bit of thumbnail sketches to get my brain going, which you can see below on the lefthand side. From there, I took some of my favorites sketches and put them in Adobe Illustrator to begin working on them. Usually I start in black and white, but Casey already knew she wanted a rust color to be the star of her business. I loved the hand-lettering in the first one because it felt very custom and welcoming, but I also loved how dynamic the bottom one felt with its wide set typeface. In the end, Casey merged two of the logos for her primary and secondary marks.

The Final Products.
And here is the final logo choice. Not much changed from the logo round one (bless Casey for being an amazing client!). You can see the Southwestern inspiration we pulled in so we can get Casey out to the West Coast to chase those dreams.

The business card, while its progress is not shown, can be seen below. Casey took some gorgeous photos for me so I could see how it turned out!
