Creatures of the Magical Forest
This is a project I did as a part of Inktober challenge back in 2018. I did not follow any official list of themes, and instead have created my own.
Here are some creatures and objects that you can find in a small part of the magical forest that surrounds a deep and mysterious lake.
The Forest is full of medicinal herbs, mushrooms and crystals along other ingredients, and the Forest Witch uses them to make potions of all types.
There are many spirits in the Magical Forest. Some take care of the plants, some - of animals, some are concerned with decomposition of matter when it is time for something or someone to go.
The wood spirit takes care of the plants. As many other spirits, he has the night vision. Sometimes he moves so slow as to allow mosses to take root on him!
Another forest helper is a little plant sprite. He is cheerful, swift and quite mischievous. His folk have wings, gills or fur, depending on the part of the forest they live in. This one has grown a sturdy head of hair resembling the horse-tail plant because he lives near the swamp and spends a lot of time there.
The Lake is home to creatures known and legendary. There was a rumor about some strange lights sparkling near the surface of the Lake at night on some days of the month... Could it be the notorious Lake Dragon?...
Well, this one is certainly not it. This is just a curious frog.
You are in luck today! You have found the Lake Dragon.
This creature is of a solitary kind and can rarely be spotted. Sometimes, though, if an observer persists and keeps staring unblinkingly at the water surface, the Dragon would wave its fin in acknowledgement of the observer's patience.
