Whiteaker Furniture School - ARCH 681 Final

We were tasked with the design of a 22,000 SF furniture making school based on a site in the Whiteaker district of Eugene, Oregon. I set out to create a space that emphasized community and integration on three levels - school to public, student to staff and student to student. The South building is the more public-facing of the two masses which is reflected in the ornamental quality of the timber structure while the North building houses the student workshops and is intended to be more industrial and shed-like in nature. The two distinct forms reflect the process of furniture making - the act of the craft and the finished product.
