The Shadow of Chang'An City, Brooch

I have been reflecting on ways the past exists in our memory. I believe there are possibilities of rejuvenating the past by using creativity. The Shadow of Chang'An City takes inspiration from a lost city named Chang'An. Chang'An was a prosperous capital in ancient China. It has disappeared in the long stretches of history, leaving blurry memory and causing reminiscence of stories and beauties buried along with it. I traced the cast shadow of a re-constructed model of Chang'An city and used the form of shadow along with the characteristic colors of the city to create the brooch. I think the process is an opportunity to use creativity to find new meanings in a lost place. After all, the city is not lost if it relives in our memory.
