Image Making: Compound Word Black and White

When choosing a compound word I was immediately drawn to "Bed bug". Originally I wanted to go in the direction of a praying mantis but the imagery was difficult to decipher. When I visualize beds my mind immediately goes to those oversized, heavy red-wood bed frames that look like a tornado couldn't even tear the down. Therefore, I chose a Stag beetle as my bug inspiration because of their big, sturdy bodies and rigid, spiked legs.
