2021 update: Bastille CD Cover, first place winner for Moorpark College 2021 Scholarship show under Packaging Design category.
I picked the word decay as the theme to describe Bastille. I didn’t have a solid idea of what I wanted to do but I just started drawing random things and eventually came up this what you see here! Though I did do background research on the band to see if they were a good fit for my design.
The meaning stems from the word I used, decay a since that each day is fading or “decaying” and if we don’t treasure it, is will be gone. That may be hard to read from the illustrations but many of Bastille’s song talk about this.

The main attraction would be the black goo-like liquid that covers that covers the whole album. My main inspiration was to create a continuous album cover that connected from many sides. I used Illustrator to create al the images, again I wanted to create a design that connected so if it were opened up it would look like the goo is spreading throughout the album. I spent the most time resizing the images and fixing the drops of goo for the cover to look continuous.
