Childrenswear Collection - Flower Power
July 2020

After exploring various themes, two of which were complete opposites – flowers, and the idea of a skater girl – I decided to fuse the two together to  form my collection, “Flower Power”. The idea of this collection is to bring  together two opposing stereotypes that are generally associated with girls,  specially of this age group, i.e. "girly girls" and "tomboys", to create a more  wholistic personality. I have focused on tulips and derived both my color palette as well as silhouettes from them and combined them with sporty elements to incorporate the skater girl element.
For my final product I have created a look that consists of a blouse with  ruffled sleeves, inspired by the ridges formed by the petals of the tulips, and a pair of shorts with printed side panels and suspenders. The blouse on its own has a very feminine look, but the shorts give it a sporty edge to create the  perfect balance between two contrasting aesthetics. The tangy orange and  bubblegum pink are a classic combination, and along with the pop of yellow  the whole outfit has a fun and fresh look that is perfect for summer.
