Fairytale Project- Cinderella

For my fairytale project I decided to use Cinderella for my inspiration. I created three pieces highlighting different aspects of the story. For my first piece, I used the "cinder" or ash aspect of the story. I first inserted and cutout the fire place that I wanted. I then brought in a separate image of the log and flames to add into the fire place I had chosen. After cutting out the logs and flames I lost the fiery glow from the initial image, so I created a new layer and went in with various shades and hues of orange. Once I had this layer I went back to my fire and log layer and used a low opacity brush around the edges to bring the glow back. Lastly, I downloaded a smoke particle brush and went in with an orange brown color to make the fireplace more ashy.
In the ashes, I wanted both elements of Cinderella to be present but subtle. I inserted one image of her cleaning and one of her in the ballgown. I then cut out both images and made their outline soft. I put them behind the ash and lowered their opacity.
For my second project, I wanted to utilize the carriage aspect of the story. I first started by imposing a pumpkin image and a mystical carriage. I cut out both the objects in order to combine them.
Once I had my images cut out I decided to begin to duplicate the carriage layers in order to separate out the different parts of the carriage I wanted to use. On one layer I had the wheels and the base, and then on a separate layer, I layer masked the top part of the carriage. Lastly, I created one more layer with the gold detailing from the original carriage.
I then started working on the background. I imported an image of a castle and then an image of a road in a forest. I began to use layer masks to blend the 2 images together. I created extra layers with just the trees cut out in order to make the image more cohesive. I also adjusted the levels and the brightness on the road layer in order to make the colors match. Lastly I downloaded a fog brush and added it in a blue grey on a new layer.
For my last project, I wanted to incorporate the slipper and clock element of the story. I started out by using an image of someone in "glass slippers" but I wanted them to be getting into a carriage rather than a car so I cut out the carriage and warped it in order to be in place of the car. Then, to add the clock aspect of the fairytale, I imported a two clocks at 12, and put them both on low opacities. I warped one to give her the illusion of standing on the clock and then the other I put in the background.
I then adjusted the layer masks on the carriage so the hand aligned properly. I also decided I wanted gold wheels instead, so I brought in a new carriage image and adjusted it accordingly. I put both the carriage door and wheels on a low opacity so it did not draw too much attention. Lastly I put grain on the "Cinderella" to add some texture.
