PROJECT | HABITAT AND THE CITY
Subject | APPLIED DESIGN 4 (2017)
Baccalaureus Technologiae : Architectural Technology
As a designer of the built environment, we are regularly challenged to anticipate future needs. This may range from quality of life issues, like the provision of clean air and natural light, to infrastructure issues such as appropriate transit and services. The careful connection of these complex threads is imperative to creating good design of environments that serve the people.
For this project based on a site in Woodstock, Cape Town, we were required to create a mixed use space that considered aspects of regeneration in relation to gentrification. My main design departure point was to draw inspiration from the existing brick facades of previously industrious buildings.
