청계천 淸溪川
.
Cheonggyecheon stream runs through Jongno-gu and Jung-gu in Seoul to Wangsimni. Water from the mountains surrounding Seoul meets Jungnangcheon, and Salgot flows through the bridge into the Han River. Looking at the flow of the waterway, it looks like it flows from west to east, meets the Han River, and exits west again. The Cheonggyecheon stream crossing the city center is a whopping 10.84 km long. It has functioned as an urban river for hundreds of years, and this function continues to this day. However, in the modern era, the road was transformed into a water-flowing road due to a large-scale covering work, which was followed by restoration work. Historically, it is a continuation of restoration and development.
From July 2003 to September 30, 2005, the overpass was demolished and covered with Cheonggyecheon, and the 5.8km section from Gwanghwamun Donga Ilbosa to Seongdong-gu Shindap Railway Bridge was restored, and trails and green areas were installed. The water flowing through the restored Cheonggyecheon stream is not sourced from the original tributary, but is supplied from the Han River water from the Jayang Intake Center and groundwater near the subway station in the city center.
