Ekkon “Ek Koinon (ἐκ κοινοῦ)”

The beliefs behind the foundation of the company, on the one hand, lie in the idea of changing the form of access to material goods, especially for low-income people. The key point is to separate the concept of ownership from the idea of using the product. Allowing people to access goods without having to buy the full price for them can reduce mental stress by having to make a choice, which will force us to keep the good for a long time (the longer, the more expensive it will be). well), and also provide access to goods that require a large amount of resources (available monetary and physical space). On the other hand, a long-term goal is to reverse production trends, where mass production and planned obsolescence compel people to continually buy many goods, wasting much of their financial power. For the company, people can retinue the available financing and share with each other the assets they own, to increase the overall benefit obtained from them, instead of parking them most of the time. Both views are linked to a general reduction in waste production, with a strong green approach with a belief in zero waste, proving that going green does not translate into less pleasure for the entire population.

The name Ekkon is a contraction from the Greek saying “Ek Koinon (ἐκ κοινοῦ)” which means “Sharing in common”. This saying appears for the first time in a work of the poet Hēsíod wrote “When shared together, the pleasure is greatest and expense is least.” which is the idea behind the sharing of goods and using them only when they are needed. For us, both the origin of the word Ekkon and the sentences that made it famous are important to let our customers understand who we are.
