Daphne being turned into a tree.

Illustration inspired by the myth of the nymph Daphne turned into a tree and famous Bernini's sculpture "Apollo and Daphne" (XVIIth century). I took the pose from the sculpture but I tried to give Daphne's face a more horrified and saddened look. This is the moment when, according to the myth and Ovid's tale in his "Metamorphoses", Daphne is being turned into a tree, after she begged to be saved from being catched by Apollo (who had fallen in love with her and chased to poses her). Although saved, she realizes with horror that her arms are turning into branches, hair into leaves and the whole body covers in bark.
