Long-tailed nesokia rat – Nesokia bunnii
This was a comission for a scientific paper which described the current conservation status of Nesokia bunnii, a poorly studied rodent in Iraq. The last reports of this species date back from the 70s, and it is unknown whether it is already extinct. I was asked to make a single descriptive illustration to support the anatomical descriptions in the paper. There are no actual images of the species, and only a few museum specimens, so it was a challenge to reconstruct the appearance of this animal with such a lack of visual references.
