Illustrations inspired from kalamkari art

Kalamkari is an ancient art-form from a India that includes hand painted or hand block printed designs on cotton textiles.

My set of illustrations is inspired by the intricate designs and depictions of nature in Kalamkari art blended with my love for symmetry.

Derived from the words “Kalam” meaning “pen” and “Kari” which means “craftsmanship”, the art form was born out the art of storytelling.
It traditionally depicts flowers, peacocks, paisleys and divine characters.
