NIKE x BAD GYAL
A CLASS FANTASY PROJECT BY RUBEN
My goal for this project was to create a Nike sneaker model based on Bad Gyal, one of the biggest and trendiest artists of the current Spanish musical panorama.

Thinking about Bad Gyal's perception and message, I designed, modelled and prototyped the model Nike x Bad Gyal.
In case you are not familiar to Bad Gyal, she is a Dance-hall / Trap / Reggaeton artist from Barcelona. She is known for her extreme aesthetics, provocative lyrics and performances and spicy attitude.
She wears Nike on stage and out of stage and she is loyal to her own unique peculiar style so it would be interesting to do a collab Nike x Bad Gyal.
BAD GYAL'S VISUAL IDENTITY / IMAGERY
My concept was portraying most of her visual imagery and her iconic aesthetics and make them present on the pair of shoes, achieving a clear resemblance between the artist and the footwear.
The Nike x Bad Gyal model would be made for the clubs and thought in function of dancing and the perreo & dancehall moves. The sneakers would need to give fixation and comfort to the feet without ever loosing the shining or over-the-top aesthetic that represents Bad Gyal. They are meant to make you feel the most powerful one in the club and to leave everyone else crazy with your style.
PROCESS
I wanted to achieve a commercial but unique look for the shoes, and for that I started getting inspired and taking parts of some of Bad Gyal's most used Nike models. From there, I modified the sole to make it look aggressive and powerful (according to the artist's visual identity and her music)
After that, I implemented some of Bad Gyal's most iconic elements ( we will see in the final design the gold, the diamonds, the chains, the shines, the fake pink fur...) into the shoe and that's how I created the design for this imaginary collaboration.
