10 Common Physical Symptoms Of Clinical Depression

Depression and mental illnesses aren’t simply “inside your head”, it’s an illness can really manifest mentally and physically, causing detriments to patients’ daily activities. The facts that society still view mental illness as simply “low mood” and “imagination” only further alienate the patients and take away their conversations. These physical symptoms can not be used as professional diagnosis. Please read them only as a reference, and if you are suffering from either psychological pain or physical pain, it’s best to see medical professionals and seek therapy. I wish you all good health and safety in these confusing days.
The 1st illustration is about the link between psychological distress to backpain or chronic aches and pains in general, while the 2nd is on the “psychomotor” symptoms, where a person feel as though they are moving/thinking at a different pace than usual.

What is Eco-anxiety? What You Can Do To Maintain Your Wellbeing?

I wrote and illustrated this article on eco-anxiety, and what to do with your crippling anxiety about climate change, the constant news of natural destruction and disaster. I also discussed how we can stay motivated and emotionally healthy in this long fight against climate change.

Want To Help Someone With Depression?

Depression, the stigma around it and how to help those with depression. At one point, the writer explore the stigma of how depression is called “the illness of the youth”, as younger generations are dubbed lazy and fragile, only “making up” mental illnesses as an excuse.

Several factors can play a role in depression, presented here are:
- Biochemistry (chemical imbalance in the brain)
- Genetics
- Personality (ie. people with low self-esteem, are easily overwhelmed by stress, or generally more pessimistic appear to be more likely to experience depression)
- Environmental factors (continuous exposure to violence, neglect, abuse or poverty...)

Stop Using "OCD" To Joke About Being Clean and Orderly
(On Vietcetera: "
Rối loạn ám ảnh cưỡng chế (OCD) không đơn giản như những câu đùa thường gặp")

On OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and how it is still often misunderstood by the public and misrepresented in the media. OCD isn’t about being clean and orderly. OCD symptoms don’t stop at excessive cleaning and washing - there are many types of obsession and compulsive behaviors following those.

4 Common Misunderstanding About OCD
(On Vietcetera: "
4 Hiểu lầm thường gặp về người bệnh OCD")

I collaged some news titles and posts that wrongly represent OCD, or even straight up mocking the disorder. Mental health is a real public health issue and as communicators/creatives, we need to represent the issue with accuracy and respect.

What To Do When There Seems To Be Bad News Only

On the concept of “Doomscrolling”, and how you are emotionally affected by the endless streams of negative news and social media. The second illustration is on the concept of “negativity bias”, when readers/media consumers actively or subconsciously consume more negative news.
Thank you for reading through the project. Hopefully we all can nurture our well-being and mental health, despite the current harsh situation. Take care!
